Chocolate Hemp Shake

This morning I woke up super stiff (I have done TM runs the last 2 days) so I decided my body and mind needed a break. I threw on my workout gear, unrolled my mat and popped Rodney into my laptop. A mere twenty minutes later, I felt refreshed and awake. I am a huge fan of a ‘workout’ not taking a long time–especially when I have to leave my warm, cozy bed to complete it before heading to work :) Besides, I honestly believe that what you eat daily plays more of a role than how many grueling hours you put into the gym. More info about that concept here.

After a speedy shower, I decided a tasty shake was in order so I assembled the goods above.

Don’t let the green-ness of the hemp powder scare you ;) Into the VitaMix went:

-2 tbsp unflavored Hemp protein powder (I like these 2 powders)

-1tbsp cocoa

-1c unsweetened almond milk

-1tsp maca root powder

-stevia to taste (if you like it super sweet 15 drops, if not 8-10)

Give it a whirl in your favorite blender et voila!

Enjoy and drink slowly to avoid brain freeze (I never learn ;) How’s your week going? It is almost over so  hang in there! I’m trying not to look outside my lab window too much today since it’s raining heavily all day. BOO! Here are some fun ways to decorate your pumpkin sans carving!

No carve decorating!

1. What’s your favorite smoothie?

2. Help me think of a creative idea to carve into my pumpkin (I can win cool stuff at work!)

I couldn’t agree more about eating and gym time. They are both important, but as they say, abs are made in the kitchen!

I don’t like smoothies… no matter how many times I tried to like it.

    I haven’t started working yet…. it’s pouring outside. I woke at 5am so I guess a nap is coming soon! :)

I am in dire need of more smoothie recipes these days! I’ve been subsisting off of boring banana chocolate peanut butter ones for the past few weeks! I’m over it.

Yum– I’ve made a almond butter-hemp smoothie and it was really good! I’ve also made “hemp fudge”, just a bit of liquid, coco powder, hemp protein and stevia! Hemp can create some tasty, but very healthy concoctions despite the unsweet taste…
