vanity

good morning! words cannot express my gratitude for a comfy bed and restful sleep last night (even if i did dream i was pregnant?! wtf.) according to dream interpretation, this means i need to revive some creative outlet that i discarded in the past…perhaps this is true!

it was a frenzied & mentally exhaustive work week & i’m so thankful to be rejuvenating with some cocomint green tea and a spa trip in less than one hour. i’ll emerge a brand new woman for sure ;) i’m finding out that the key to not having a meltdown when stress is high is to take time for yourself even if it’s 20mins! so crucial for resetting a positive mental attitude! i really enjoy the spa & feeling ‘girly’ after donning a stark lab coat & goggles much of the week. this pretty much sums up what makes me feel the most feminine in two steps:

1. cement pearls from nate (a bday gift from a couple years ago). these are my favorite earrings because they have the sophistication of that classic pearl shape but are modern with a slight edge being concrete. the best part is they change over time just like we do! the oils from our skin & exposure to environmental elements result in an incredible patina through the duration of wear!

2. chloé perfume. once again, a sucker for the packaging but if i really want to amp things up i spray this on instead of my usual miss cherie by Dior. i think this scent is a little heavier but has both the velvety floral mixed with a woody scent which makes it kinda musky/earthy and i dig that.

1. what is your beauty must have?
2. what makes your life the most beautiful?

    Great post!

I’d have to say my Creme de la Mer face cream-baby soft skin in one expensive pot!

Just came across your blog and your stomach problems correspond so much with my own! I was wondering what you have to eat as pre workout fuel and snacks? I find most ideas are really high in the carb category, and that upsets my stomach!

    Love the blog
    X

hey sophie! thanks for stopping by and saying hi :) i ALWAYS work out fasted. i never can eat anything prior to working out as i feel sick during a workout. this is always feasible for me since my workouts are always short and never last more than 30min. i can wait that long before sitting down to a meal, its not like im running a marathon or something lol. if you feel you must have a bite pre workout, half a banana or a medjool date stuffed with nut butter will give you a bit of energy. i don’t really snack to be honest, i sit down to 2-3 large meals daily and they keep me saited until the next meal. i always fill my bowl/plate with a good bit of veggies, moderate amount of protein (oily fish, hard boiled eggs, roast eye of round or pork tenderloin) & then for fats i use avocado or olive or tahini based dressings. my desserts are usually fruit mostly bananas or berries. hope that helps!

I couldn’t squeeze a trip to the Hammam into my budget in Paris, so I picked up some savon d’Alep which I have always adored for my skin! Other beauty must haves: coconut oil, Dior mascara and a good lip gloss :)

What a terrifying dream! I think I’d consider it a nightmare if it happened to me. :)

Chloe is my fragrance and honestly, I totally swear by it! I also wear my pearls that I got in Hawaii to replace the ones my mom-in-law gave me at my wedding :(
That on top of feeling happy with my physical self – when that’s not right, nothing is! New to your blog – thanks!

I LOVE those earrings. Too bad I’m allergic to silver! I keep pearls in my ear 24/7 mostly out of laziness; I don’t want my holes to close up but I’m not really an earring girl. But those cement pearls… I need to find some with gold.

I so wish the Chloe perfume smelled good on me! The newer one- forgot what it’s called- smelled better… I love Paul Smith’s Rose, though.
