i haven’t talked about work in a while because things are becoming very exciting & i’ve been incredibly busy on a mitochondrial related project. however, i wanted to share this video with you because it encapsulates in cartoon form what i did in my last job. i seriously thought someone was over my shoulder (i also have purple square glasses!!)
i can’t tell you how much ‘voodoo’ one practices on a daily basis trying to get results to replicate. if you alter the slightest thing, you may get a different result…that’s how sensitive these assays can be! while i never tapped the thermocycler for good luck, i definitely spun my samples down in the mini-fuge a certain way before loading them into it for a run ^_* we all have our quirks haha. you can see me doing western blots here or doing the gel electrophoresis you will see in the video below. the video was done by invitrogen who have renamed themselves as ‘life technologies (we order from them a lot) and it has a very gorillaz-eque vibe. i dig it a lot! x

I have one compound that has been the biggest pain in my ASS for months. Every time I do anything with it, any number of random things go wrong. I hate that it’s for an insanely rare cancer and so the rush is soooo ethically needed, but it’s going to make me go gray early, I swear. Yay science!
