my personal marathon of 2012

i’ve made no secret that i am not a fan of running these days. in fact, it’s been years since i’ve run anything over 2-3 miles! when i’m stressed sometimes, i feel like ‘running’ away which was the case recently. it was an intellectually challenging week at work with new experiments and attempts to understand transient transfection. i’ll get it i know it! i just need to be patient with myself :)

this weekend i vowed to clear my head and when i stumbled upon clare’s 5 mile pyramid run decided to give it a go. there’s something about a good sweat that seems to erase all of the not so fun parts of being an adult! i adjusted it slightly and finished in 43mins which also happens to be the longest workout i’ve done in about 2 years! a friend of mine wants to run a 10k in september so i guess i don’t need to train since our goal is just to finish it! now that i ran this far, i’m not running for another month haha. here’s my proof: tomato.face.sweaty.mess. #nofilter

even if i wasn’t going to do this race, i still enjoy a good challenge physically so this totally seemed appropriate ;p

what’s the hardest workout you have done lately?

I am not a fan of running either and yet I’ve been sprinting almost daily just to catch my ride LOL. Look at you…I see abs! :D

i also haven’t ran in ages and ages. i did go to a yoga class yesterday that was really intense. or maybe it was just really hot! i was so sweaty at the end and i don’t even usually sweat. it wasn’t supposed to be hot yoga but i felt like she had the heat up. and it was about 95 degrees out (though we were inside, and there should have been a/c… hm). anyway that was the hardest workout i’ve done. it was also hard because i had taken a difficult class the day before and i was sore.

yoga is really challenging for me lately…i sweat like a beast even if it’s 75F in the room lol. i am really starting to appreciate the breathing aspect of the practice though!

I HATE running. I used be “a runner” and now? I couldn’t tell you the last time I ran. I hate it. It hurts and I want to kill myself the entire time.

What’s up, Abbie McAbster? ;) (I’m just jealous.)

You have rock-hard abs and you haven’t worked out for more than 45 minutes in two years?!?! I hate you! LOL

lol abs are made in the kitchen. i’m in the camp of diet is 80% of your physique, exercise is 20% so i don’t really exercise that much. 20min workouts are about all i can handle but i go hard during those 20mins…gotta make it count :)

So I’m just going to say it…so envious of your abs. I used to have abs like that but thanks to Maya they are just a distant memory.

Lori and I are not the biggest fans of running anymore, but we do like going out for a run every once in awhile for something different. as running for us is a different stress reliever then our typical workouts at home!
