before you think i’ve turned into a complete nutter, hear me out. i went to see the pittsburgh symphony play music from the legend of zelda games. it was called ‘symphony of the goddesses’ and you can read a really nice review of the experience here. i only saw a couple people dressed up as link and i wore a simple summer dress mind you i’m not an animal.

after the show, we walked to a place called ‘olive or twist‘ and there was a resident band there who took requests! i sipped my gimlet, listened to a surprisingly good rendition of ‘fake plastic trees’ and called it a lovely date night!

lastly, i wanted to share with you a recent discovery…spodee (rhymes with yogi). it’s a depression era hooch and is a little too sweet for me to sip by itself but you can make quite a few mixed drinks with it and wow…is it tasty?! i love that the jar is styled to look like an old glass milk bottle. americana at its finest! i recommend the spodee manhattan (add some whiskey/cherries to equal parts spodee).
