the best natural deodorant. ever.

you guys, so it’s true. . .i am a tad crunchy but hear me out! so you know how there’s this thing about antiperspirants and possible incidence of breast cancer?

i’m not totally convinced due to inconclusive research BUT i’m also not taking any chances. pair that with the prospect of potential hormone disregulation and i am already three steps into DIY’ing my own batch of anti-funk to keep my pits smelling fresh. enter in my own mini-experiment which had more fails than success.

i am a sweater…not the knitwear but a person who sweats. mostly during exercise, but also in a stressful situation so i obviously want to use a product that works! i’ve tried tom’s of maine, alba botanica, the thai rock crystal and most recently the roll-on version of crystal deodorant.

first a thank you for everyone that has put up with my funky freshness during this period of adjusting/testing. i’m sure it was not the most pleasant scent ;p but i bring good news!

life changing. deodorant cream by soapwallakitchen! i had my doubts and honestly never really thought a cream would work. the ingredient list certainly is full of anti-microbial essential oils so i thought i’d give it a try! after all, it is the bacteria that causes the smell, not the actual dampness.

you simply apply it to your under arms like a moisturizer gently rubbing it in et voila! stink no more. i made it through the day without having to reapply! the best parts being it’s effectiveness and secondly the gentle ingredients: Organic Simmondsia chinensis (Jojoba) Oil; Organic Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Oil; Organic Rosehip Seed Oil; Butyrospermun parkii (Shea) Butter; Organic Corn Starch; Sodium Bicarbonate; Kaolin Clay; Organic Vegan Kosher Glycerin; Essential oils of: Organic Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender); Organic Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree); Organic Citrus Sinensis (Sweet Orange); Organic Mentha Piperita (Peppermint); Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergaptene-free Bergamot).

1. do you use antiperspirant or deodorant?
2. any natural products you like?

yeah, the crystal roll-on worked for me so long as i re-applied it during the day but i could never go all day on a stressful day in particular without feeling like i could smell myself a little. i’m sure it’s always worse to our own noses but still…not something i want to worry about!

I need to try this, too! I use Degree because it has less aluminum in it—less than other products out there at least. I’ve been looking for an alternative.

i used secret all my life until this past year when i decided to try to reduce my chemically laden beautifying to natural products. i honestly thought i was gonna smell bad the rest of my life until i found this cream. so many natural products do not stand up to my standards i guess ha.

I’ve thought the same thing! Smelly for life. I hope to never come in contact with chemical-laden deodorant again. However, coconut oil just doesn’t cut it like it does for some. And adding baking soda to that just makes my pits raw with the rubbing. I think I shall try this product. Thanks!

I use this one! Love it. Started using it almost a year ago and I have never looked back. It’s so much better than the other “natural” deodorants – it just WORKS. I order them 4 at a time to save on shipping.

i was so surprised! i use about a pea size on each pit but i agree, i’ll order a couple next time. i definitely understand why the packaging is small though…to reduce that microbial growth! :)

Thanks for posting this! I’m totally going to try it. I’ve been trying different deodorants (as opposed to antiperspirants with aluminum) for the past few months because of the potential health risks, and they all sort of suck. haha.

Dara-definitely give this a try! i am a complete skeptic and had good results with this. if you have sensitive skin, try shaving the night before or make sure your arms are dry before you apply. i haven’t had any kind of irritation but i know some people might experience it from potent botanicals. enjoy!

I use deoderant….when I remember to put it on. I am not a sweater by nature, and I’m perpetually cold on top of that, so I like to think that for about 11 months of the year, I don’t really “need” it. But just in case, I throw a swipe on from time to time. I guess natural stuff would be fine, but since I haven’t bought a new stick in over a year, and I have another one in my backup storage, I’m probably not the target market.

But glad you found something that works for you!

I’ve been making my own deodorant concoction using baking soda and coconut oil – have to be a bit careful not to put too much baking soda or I’ll get rash on my armpits..it works wonder plus very economical. I don’t have to re apply it either. I am a sweater as well..during exercise and stressful situation just like you.

Prior this, I used Secret – which was fine and the thing I liked was it kept my armpits for being sweaty but as we all know it contains chemicals that’s not good for us.

Does this cream keep your armpits dry even though you are sweating?

jos–the cream kept my arms drier than any other natural deodorant i have tried but this is not solely an anti-antiperspirant. i thought about making my own as well but i thought it might be messy and in the winter coconut oil is pretty hard in my house! i wanted to avoid a greasy mess!

OMG! So glad you posted this, I never heard of it and have TRIED switching in the past, but smelling like BO is a major phobia of mine! I am really bad, I use so much deodorant. And breast cancer runs in my family. Sounds like it works for other commenters too, so I am excited to check it out!

Hope you had a nice birthday!
