homemade hemp milk & barre progress

hey everybody! are you finishing up your holiday preparations? i should really start wrapping some things because it’s certainly no fun when someone just hands you an unwrapped present! my brother has actually done this to me a couple times haha but i forgive him because he was younger and has since fixed his gifting ways :)

i’m still waiting on some very important news and as soon as i know the results, i will fill you all in! trust me, i just want to sleep soundly again. there is so much on my mind and our future! it’s not too bad but i’ve been distracting myself with a personal challenge: take 20 pure barre classes in 30 days. here i am after day 12 of class in my sticky socks! i have until 12.29.12 to get those last 8 completed. i’m usually not one to enjoy a 55 min class but i have really been enjoying this mental escape. it’s a wonderful distraction and oh…it burns so good.

i also have a quick and easy dairy free milk recipe for you today! i’ve been enjoying this recently and make a new batch every 3-4 days.

diy hemp milk
-1/2c raw shelled hempseeds
-3c filtered water
-1/8 tsp salt
-1tsp vanilla extract
-1tbsp raw maple syrup (or sweetener of choice to taste)

method: pour hempseeds into blender or food processor and cover with 3c water. allow seeds to sprout for 1hr. add the salt, vanilla, sweetener of choice and blend. strain the mylk through cheesecloth or a nut mylk bag. use within 3-4 days!

tell me one thing you are challenging yourself to this holiday season?

You look fab! I’ve been enjoying my KB class and wish I could go there more often! Starting next month we will have Saturday classes so at least I could get there on weekends. But I still feel not enough! Wish I could go there 3-4 times a week!

Hemp seeds milk..hmm…interesting! The last time I made non dairy-milk was from almonds and it was quite labor intensive that I just gave up completely.

Have a nice week! Christmas is almost here!

I am challenging myself just to get through it! I find the holiday season to be incredibly stressful. Wish I had a more specific challenge, but this is the only one I could think of.

it really is a stressful time! it makes people very cranky too—in fact this morning some man sped up in his car like he was going to hit my co-worker and i just to yell at us ‘there ain’t no cross-walk here’ to which i replied ‘i’m sorry’ and he replied ‘a$$holes.’ lovely no? also, there aren’t any crosswalks at all in the area we were and we were one foot away from being on the curb off the road. he was the grinch for sure.

I’m trying to chill out and do some yoga. I used to be all about it, but I’ve fallen off the wagon. Three 20 min yoga sessions in the last 5 days!

I really want to take a Pure Barre class! I’ve heard such great things. I also want to take a yoga class- I haven’t practiced since I was in the hospital 8 months (!) ago and I’m afraid I’ll fall flat on my face.

But… my goal this holiday is to (continue) to be kind and forgiving to/of myself.
