valentine booty…errr be mine?

whether or not you buy into the red or pink chocolate filled flowerstravaganza known as valentine’s day is not the issue. the heart of the matter on this day is feeling your best! love the place in your life for not only who you are, but exactly where you are in this moment!

it’s been 10 weeks since i last exercised due to my hamstring injury and wow this burned! i have lost a few pounds of muscle since i have been sedentary, so i’m looking to gain a little back!

i made a pure barre inspired workout drawn on my experiences that i detailed on my first day, and then after completing 20 classes in 30 days! these moves lift, tone & burn the booty, arms & legs with minimal or no equipment at all! it’s catching on too—my local newspaper did a story on the studio that i tried! check it out here.

the biggest tip i can give you with pure barre exercise is to keep your movements small, focus on contracting your muscles and the tiny isometric movements will work! no timers needed, just you and your beautiful self :) enjoy! x

Hey girl, love your blog! Question for you, after not exercising for 10 weeks, how do you keep the weight off- are you eating less during this period? I find that if i dont exercise for a few days i notice. you look toned and great. would you say its 80% diet and 20% exercise? Peace, dede

hey dede, thanks for reading! i exercise for stress relief and those happy endorphins :) i am a believer in diet trumping anything exercise can do! i eat a paleo diet and have done this for 3 years now! it helps me not worry about a thing or calorie count. i just eat until i feel mostly full and then stop…i guess i just eat intuitively?

Congrats on your first post-injury workuout! Your circuit workout looks killer, I might have to give it a shot. I HATE super-girl swimmers though…they remind me of belly-down backbends in yoga which I also hate. Which probably means I should do more of them right? Le sigh.

i don’t like the super girl swimmers either but they def help strengthen that lower back!

i am preferring it to HIIT since i’m still on the mend and out of shape haha. it’s giving me a more long and lean look that i want as well.

DONKEY KICKS ARE MY FAVORITE! I do these several times a week… sometimes while checking my phone or reading a book! They BURN! And yes, recently I’ve been hearing my knees creak which makes me so nervous as my mom’s sound like VELCRO now whenever she bends them (From years of aikido /martial arts and running)…. .I definitely don’t want to have all of the knee problems that she does! As a result, I’ve been incorporating more to low impact exercises (pilates, barre, etc)…and less squats, deep lunges, NO JUMPING, etc. Sometimes I feel like barre takes longer to get my heart rate up (more reps too), but in the end… saving my body seems worth it, you know?

    thanks for this workout too!

    HAPPY WEEKEND TO YOU, M!
