what a crazy few days it has been! we successfully moved to our new place and got internet back last night. we managed not to break anything but ended up taking more trips than we initially had planned. apparently, tis the u-haul season in pittsburgh and every.single.truck had been rented within our radius! our only option was a cargo van! we didn’t side eye the limited transportation options given our little honda fit would never have been able to haul furniture. this is what got me through that day:
i happen to be one of the crazy people unable to sleep until most/if not all.the.things. are put away. it’s a bit daunting after you realize all of your things are just stacked in a small space but it’s definitely worth the push at the end of the day. i tried not to look at everything at the same time haha! things are rapidly coming together and we are going to have our first house guests in one week!
our little dining room coming together. . .(i could not be happier with the wallpaper as our ‘accent wall’ and i have to give out a shout to brenda and her crew for the fabulous, friendly and accommodating job!)
the only thing left for us to complete is our kitchen cabinet doors. i plan on giving them their last coat of paint today and then we can screw the handles on tomorrow evening and install! i adore our little place and what’s even better is how quiet it is at night compared to our last digs. i can sleep without a noise machine?! it’s pretty crazy!
now that i moved, i can show you exactly where we used to live! it was a pretty wild place to be actually. it’s one of those ‘up and coming’ neighborhoods where you see drug deals outside your window on the regular. a bit scary at first coming from some very quiet central pa suburbs, but nate and i adjusted very quickly. the nyt actually did an article on it late last year. you can read about my street here.
we were directly across the street from artisan tattoo and kraynick’s bike shop the blue painted building next to the bike store had tango dancing in the basement on the first friday of the month until late at night. it made for some interesting attempts in sleeping but i wouldn’t trade our experience for anything else! it really kept things exciting haha!
